My Passion |
|
|
Music has been my passion ever since I was little girl. Here is my response to a question on August 21, 2004:
How did the experience (summer program) impact you as an individual?
Attending the Interlochen Arts Camp in Michigan is an opportunity of a lifetime. The whole place is inspiring and enthusiastic about the same things I was enthusiastic about. First of all, I grew musically as a pianist and I also learned how to play the harp. Being classically trained, I branched out and enrolled in the beginning jazz piano class. I also competed in the intermediate concerto competition. My outlook on life has changed because of the people at Interlochen as well.
People from all over the world with different experiences attend and I am in awe of their talent and diversity. The Interlochen Arts Festival takes place during the camp season and I saw many amazing performances such as Joshua Bell, Norah Jones, Itzhak Perlman, the Peking Acrobats, Sarah Chang, Josh Groban, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and the Boston Pops. Watching the people perform is inspiring. A girl in my cabin, Caitlin, is from Zambia and she taught herself how to play the violin and now teaches other kids how to play as well. She was sponsored by many groups and organizations to come to America and after her 40-hour flight, she made it! Caitlin is just one of the many people who have changed my life.
Interlochen is a place where differences are forgotten and people from all over world will unite in a single place to do one thing and that is to create art. This is why I love Interlochen.
